If you were lucky enough to know Rekisha Harris you will never forget her bright smile and fabulous shoes. The American Heart Association had the privilege of knowing Rekisha and having her as a volunteer and national spokesperson for three years.
Rekisha’s story was truly one of trials, tribulation and eventually triumph over heart disease. Rekisha dedicated her life to the Go Red For Women campaign. Her goal was always to help others that were in her shoes (which usually were stillettos). She spent countless hours educating women on the signs and symptoms of heart disease, encouraging women to advocate for their health and the health of their loved ones. Rekisha’s passion for this movement was inspiring and she made an impact on everyone she met. Sadly Rekisha lost her battle with heart disease, but her spirit lives on in the people she touched.
