Meet our Survivor Speaker Braden Everly

"I was a healthy 12 year old boy who loved life and lived for playing football.  It was at a friend's pool party I started to feel like something was wrong.  I lost all color in my vision, I struggled to understand anyone who was trying to help me, and I completely lost my balance.  I lost my ability to walk and talk. My speech was slurred and my thoughts were slow. One week later I was diagnosed.  I had experienced an ischemic stroke, but because there was very little research around "kids and stroke" I was not diagnosed immediately, and maybe other avenues were explored prior to my stroke diagnosis.  I underwent three brain surgeries and spent the next year slowly regaining my speech, and basic gross motor skills."

We look forward to you meeting Braden at the Denver Heart Ball to learn how the research of the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association has effected Braden and other children like him.
